Sense of North; Kuzey Avrupa ülkeleri film gösterimlerini ve bu
gösterimler boyunca yapılacak çeşitli konserler ile panelleri içeren
festival projesidir.
Sense of North; Şubat 2011 tarihinin son haftasında (21-28
Şubat 2011) Beyoğlu Sineması’nda başlayacak ve yıl boyu çeşitli
etkinliklerle sürecek olan bir film festivali olarak tasarlanmıştır.
Sense of North; 2011 yılı Şubat, Mart, Nisan, Mayıs, Kasım, Aralık
ve 2012 yılı Ocak, Şubat, Mart aylarının son haftasında gerçekleşir
ve her ay için özel olarak seçilmiş kuzey ülkesi sinemasına
odaklanan bir film seçkisi sunar.
Her ayın son haftasında yapılan ve seçilen kuzey ülkesinden çarpıcı
film örneklerini bünyesinde barındıran Sense of North, sinema
severlerin memnuniyetini en önemli kriter olarak belirlemiştir. Bu
doğrultuda; animasyondan belgesele, dramdan korku ve komediye
kadar birçok türde filmi içinde barındıran geniş bir yelpazeye
sahiptir.
Sense of North dahilindeki gösterimler aynı zamanda konuk
ülkeden gelen yönetmelerin de iştiraki ile gerçekleşir ve bu
doğrultuda festival, sinema severlerin filmi yönetmeni ile beraber
izlemesi adına ortak alan oluşturur.
Sense of North; sinema severlerin gelişen ve değişen film
tercihlerini gözeten, film izleme alışkanlıklarının farklılaştığını
kavrayan bir etkinlik yaratmak için yola çıkmıştır. Sinematek yapısı
ve bilincini bu anlamda yeniden gündeme getirecek olan Sense of
North, katılımcıların filmleri ücretsiz izleyebildikleri ‘ücret dışı’ bir
festivaldir.
Sense of North; ücret dışı olmasına rağmen genç üniversite
öğrencilerinin, festival takipçilerinin, eğitimli kitlenin, sektör
profesyonelleri ve öğretim görevlilerinin ve güncel gelişmeleri
yakından takip eden sanatseverlerin bir araya gelip fikir
alışverişinde bulunduğu kaliteli platformlar sunar.
Sense of North; film gösterimlerinin yanısıra müzik, tasarım,
edebiyat, söyleşi gibi modern disiplinlere de önem verir ve bu
doğrultuda sanatçıların kendilerini ifade edebilecekleri imkanlar
yaratır.

Sense of North is a festival project that involves Northern European movie screenings and various concerts and panels during those screenings.
Sense of North is designed as a movie festival that will start with Beyoğlu Movie Theater on the last week of February 2011 (February 21-28) and it will continue for the whole year with various activities.
Sense of North will take a place on the last weeks of February, March, April, May, November, December of 2011 and January, February and March of 2012 and it will present a collection of movies that focus on the cinema of Northern European countries.
Sense of North will define the satisfaction of movie lovers as the most important criterion by taking place on the last week of every month and comprised of striking movies from selected northern countries. In this manner, it will include a wide arrange of movies from animations to documentaries and drama to horror and comedy.
Sense of North screenings will take place with the directors from the host country present and the festival will provide a common ground for movie lovers to watch movies with the director.
Sense of North started out to create an activity that is mindful of the changing and developing movie preferences of movie lovers and understands the differentiation in movie watching habits. Reviving the film club structure and awareness in this manner, Sense of North is a “nonwage” festival in which attendants can watch movies for free.
Sense of North will present a fine platform where young university students, festival followers, educated population, sector professionals and academics and art lovers that follow the recent developments can gather and exchange ideas.
Sense of North places emphasis on modern disciplines alongside movie screenings such as music, design, literature, interviews and creates opportunities for artists to express themselves.
